sweetdexter
I just read an article on the BBC South Yorkshire website about a grant for people to open shops in the City core. It showed a panoramic shot taken from behind the railway station .What is the building under construction and towering twice as high as any surrounding structures, also it shows a Ferris Wheel in the vicinity of the Town Hall. Can someone tell an ex-pat who has not visited for a few years what these two structures are? Is this an old photo from the BBC library because I see there was a Ferris Wheel a few years ago at Xmas
Thorpist
It is an old photo if you use google street view and go to arundel gate you will see the tall building which I believe are offices with a multistorey car park next door. I think the old yorkshire grey pub was at this location
Fogey
The tall building is the 32 storey St Pauls tower which is residential. The cheesegrater next to it is a multi storey car park. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1870208 The ferris wheel was pretty much a ferris wheel, similar things have been seen in many major cities. It was a temporary thing. It gave some interesting views across the top of the city.
Guest
Lovely view. Those squat, tan, tiny windowed cuboids and the shiny Borg structure really set off that huge middle finger of a grey slab nicely. ETA: That pub in the foreground is really crying out for some grey and white plastic cladding. Edited July 30, 2015 by Guest
