The new San Remo on London Road

Went to the new San Remo Italian restaurant on Wednesday evening and had a lovely meal. There were 8 of us originally so we had booked a table for 7:30. IT was quiet at first but then it gradually became more more busy.

The food was excellent. Home-cooked Italian food with a good selection on the menu. The prices are really good too and in addition they have a special offer of a starter and a main for just £9 something. They do pasta, pizza, and crepe dishes as well as others. The restaurant is really clean too. There is a good selection of wines - we had an excellent Valpolicelli. There is also a good selection of deserts, including home-made tiramisu.

We all had a three course meal, a bottle of wine, other drinks + coffees and the bill still only came to £100 between 6 of us. We left a tip and the waiter came to tell us that we had overpaid, until we explained that it was a tip!

They have only been open about 6 weeks so they are still getting things right. I was served UHT milk with my tea so asked for ordinary cold milk, which wasn't a problem. With the bill we were given Whether's Original toffees rather than mints or chocolate - which we thought was a bit strange.

If you like good home-cooked Italian then it is well worth a visit. We will be going again and perhaps taking more friends next time.
