Cyclone Posted August 3, 2015 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I started work in 1963,the big difference then was if you did not like your job you could walk out,and get another one within a couple of days. Hadn't been the case in the 50's though, wasn't the case in the 90's either. Whether it's easy to find work is primarily a function of how well the economy is doing at the time, in a recession it's hard, when the economy is rising it's easier. My parents worked harder than I do, for much less money, but then they made sure that I became well educated, so it's not directly comparable. The most common type of work has definitely changed, manual jobs were far more common in the 60's than they are now, and call centres pretty much didn't exist.
