Shorter working week

Recommended Posts

I am lucky to be in an office where we aren't obligated to be contactable during certain hours (say 9-5) so can work flexi and build up some hours for an extra day off occasionally. My boss actually has 'compressed hours' built into her contract so she works an extra hour a day and has every other Friday off. But some people, in contact centres for example, aren't so lucky.

I've actually thought about this in advance though. When my other half (who is older than me) reaches 60 and can start collecting on a teacher pension, so will move to part-time work, I plan on dropping to a 4 day, 36 hour week at 9 hours per day. I reckon I could cope with the 10% loss.
