Moorhead is it still there?

Recommended Posts

As Jim Hardie noted the sheffieldhistory.co.uk site is very good for local maps, especially those 1950s large-scale Ordnance Survey maps that show the city as we 'oldies' remember it! The source I used for the side-by-side comparison is the National Library of Scotland website here..:)

Off topic question.

I assume you have a Gloops badge in your stack of stuff?

If not I'll send you mine. Belongs to a Sheffield collection.

Funny how Gloops is still remembered after all these years, was he purely a Sheffield thing ?

The Sheffield Star.

We had Heap doing the political charicatures.

We had Gloops and "Biringing up Fattter" (at least, that's how it read)

(I'll keep my Gloops badge for anybody that cares!)

Thought I once read it started in a paper in Newcastle.

The ultimate insult. And here we though that Gloops didn't make sense to anybody outside of Heeley!

But of course they had Tommy Docherty too!

Is there nothing we can claim as our own Except for Jimmy Hagen?

Or was he born in Rotherham or Doncaster?

Jimmy Hagan was actually born in Washington, County Durham. :| The good news is that Derek Dooley was born at Pitsmoor. :)

WHO had Tommy Docherty? Manager of Rotherham United late '60s and is a Glaswegian.

I think former Blades stalwart Joe Shaw was from nearby Jimmy's birthplace and other 'good news' is that John Fantham was a 'Pitsmoorian'. Thanks Mr.H !
