chalga
[/color] 800,000 was the figure bandied about. I heard it, you heard it, and guess what - thousands of economic migrants heard it. This is the era of mobile technology that brings news in seconds. Hence this chaos. Still doesn't mean that Germany agreed to take in 800,000 like you have bandied about. ---------- Post added 17-09-2015 at 07:24 ---------- How did he get to Spain so quickly ? Walked really fast. ---------- Post added 17-09-2015 at 07:25 ---------- nice only another 7999999 to go and its sorted:roll: hang on I thought they were fleeing a war zone Is it not bad enough news for you? So you are saying that I made up the 800,000 figure then ? I never realised I had that much influence on German / EU policies.

ricgem2002
Is it not bad enough news for you? no I have more to worry about with a tory gov cutting services to "our" own people with cuts to pensions/nhs/jobs/ etc than worry about more coming here to sponge from a already dwindling pot. harsh I know but true
OPEN BORDERS
Post a link where Merkel says she is going to take in 800,000 then. As I stated earlier, 800.000 was the figure I heard from the news in general. I'm not making it up. Maybe someone with more computer skills than me could provide you the confirmation. Berberis
Still doesn't mean that Germany agreed to take in 800,000 like you have bandied about. They did in a roundabout way. Merkel said “The fundamental right to asylum does not have a limitation.” After she said this, the German government raised its estimate of how many asylum seekers and refugees are expected to arrive to 800,000. Berberis
Thanks for confirming that it was an 'estimate of how many are expected to arrive' Immigration figures the world over are always estimates. As we cannot interview every asylum seeker as they leave their home nation and ask them where are they going, an estimate is the only way to prepare. What is true is; Germany expects this number and are preparing for such an eventuality. It can go up or it could go down, but neither you or I can dispute this number.
