Child maintenance service

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help me about child support.

I have 4 children from 2 relationships.

I pay child support for my youngest who is 17.

When my 2nd child to my 1st relationship left school in 2008 I was unemployed but still paying child support.

She never went on to further education such as college or university.

I was still paying child support until I started work on Sept 2009.

Then I received a letter months after asking why I'm not paying child support.

Well like an idiot I didn't respond thinking work it out yourselves you thickos.

Roughly 2 years later I received another letter reminding me off the money I owe and why I thought I didn't have to pay? I thought they was winding me up, it states if a child leaves school and doesn't go onto further education you don't pay.

Same again I ignored it.

About a year ago I received a letter stating it will be transferred to child maintenance service as it was called child support before.

After speaking with child maintenance I asked from what dates do I owe this money? Sorry we don't know it's just arrears from an old case.

I explained what happened but she didn't want to know.

I got hot headed and she hung up.

I have now received my yearly payment plan for my youngest daughter who I pay for and that debt has been added to it and broke down into £35.62 for 12 months.

Starting from 21/8/15

I pay my daughter using direct pay into my ex's boyfriend's account.

They don't even know my bank details.

Ok so can anyone give me any advice before I shout and ball when I ring them tomorrow?...thanks.

The best thing to do before paying anything out is visit the Citizens Advice.
