Dead mans handle

Even better a small camera that has facial recognition. If it detects your eyes closed for x amount of time or slump forward stop the vehicle.

Even better have a camera on every car bumper front and back. Even if you wanted to tailgate the car in front it would apply the brake keeping an even 2 second rule.

Hypothetically speaking. We have cars that can brake automatically because it sees a problem we don’t because we are putting on lipstick etc. Why do we need car insurance? How many billions would be unemployed? Easy implemented but will never happen.

I believe that they have man's handles on trains. In the light of the Scotland bin lorry crash and now a single-decker bus being driven out of control into a house; would it be practical to have a dead man's handle/switch on other vehicles?

Yes there's technology that can be introduced to save lives, but it comes down to price per life saved.

Price per life saved is how road safety measures are judged as worthwhile or not. It's brutal, but what would be a better measurement in deciding where to spend on reducing road deaths?

Ok this is not dragons den… lol Lets say my hypothetical idea has a three second delay, this will allow for people that fidget , straighten their back etc etc. More than 3 seconds or so, the car will presume you have slumped forward and going to die.

Ever driven a car in snow or fog? Or heavy rain?

Not conditions I'd want the engine to switch off.
