Library
Both stations we think closed around 1995/96 Brightside and Attercliffe Road both closed on 28th Janaury 1995 (according to Modern Railways Magazine, March 1995, page 137)
stpetre
Actually I think it's a "Peak" but Deltic's near enough.. Engine 'on it's way to Duchy?' also what replaced those big Deltics?
hillsbro
...what replaced those big Deltics? The Deltics pulled express passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line until the InterCity 125s were introduced in 1978. The Deltics were always a favourite with drivers. The 125s are fine also, but I well remember taking the Flying Scotsman form Edinburgh to London in July 1978. On leaving Edinburgh the head steward (on this brand-new, state-of-the-art train) announced that no tea or coffee could be served "due to an electrical fault". darylslinn
Definitely a split headcode Peak looks like D21 which became 45026 that was scrapped at MC Metals, Glasgow (Nov.1988).
bensonhedges
Actually I think it's a "Peak" but Deltic's near enough.. Hillsbro is right - class 46 Peak. Deltics just had two windows. Sorry - was a trainspotter in the 70's when Deltics were the gods of the East Coast Main Line. crookedspire
Brightside and Attercliffe Road both closed on 28th Janaury 1995 (according to Modern Railways Magazine, March 1995, page 137) Been closed twenty years this year, does the magazine give a reason for closing of the station Im guessing lack of passengers use?
