...what replaced those big Deltics?
The Deltics pulled express passenger trains on the East Coast Main Line until the InterCity 125s were introduced in 1978. The Deltics were always a favourite with drivers. The 125s are fine also, but I well remember taking the Flying Scotsman form Edinburgh to London in July 1978. On leaving Edinburgh the head steward (on this brand-new, state-of-the-art train) announced that no tea or coffee could be served "due to an electrical fault". :|

sounds about right drivers have a tea boiler in the cap lol:hihi:

Brightside and Attercliffe Road both closed on 28th Janaury 1995 (according to Modern Railways Magazine, March 1995, page 137)

 

Been closed twenty years this year, does the magazine give a reason for closing of the station Im guessing lack of passengers use?
