I applied for a driving job on gumtree and the guy replied saying that job had gone but how would I feel abt driving his wife around to business appointments and hospital appointments. Offered £450 a week and I was to pick his wife up from Manchester airport next Saturday. He said he would pay me upfront and the remainder I'm to transfer to his wife for her travelling costs... A cheque has arrived today for almost 4 thousand euro ..... It will take 2 wk to clear in my bank .... Am I being scammed???? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Elmambo Posted August 22, 2015 Share Posted August 22, 2015 A cheque does not take 2, weeks to clear. Is it an international money order or something similar ? If so I believe they are reversible, so you would give his wife 3,500, euro from your account and then find the 4,000 has been reclaimed it's a fairly common scam.
