Cyclone
Well I did only say "I think". Do you think I'm always correct or something? I'm still not sure if you really have a point, maybe SCORING a point was what you wanted to do, rather than MAKING a point. The noise was unacceptable. Lots of people phoned the police about it. You and a couple of other people out of dozens posting on this thread have claimed it was okay. It probably was from Bakewell though, where it didn't affect you. ---------- Post added 26-08-2015 at 10:58 ---------- I know more now about the EPA and noise abatement orders though. hamatik
Was it hippies playing techno music again? Absolutely disgusting those hippies, some of them are vegetarians and everything. And they smoke pot. Who smokes pot nowadays?? It's not the 60's anymore for crying out loud. Someone needs to tell them about crystal meth or something - then they won't be able to afford speakers and everyone will be happy.
sgtkate
Are you being serious ? If so you want to take a long long look at yourself. One of the major problems with modern society is it`s all me me me , never think about other people. It`s called basic selfishness. The slight irony of that is that you are only thinking of yourself in that you wish to stop several hundred people from having a fun night so that you can sleep. And this is the problem is that most people want to make noise when they want to, but then expect everyone else to shut up when they want to sleep. If they'd kept me awake like that I'd have gone mental!

Most of the hippies have grown up, cut their hair, got married and acquired jobs at Barclays bank.

Well, not really. Not if you rank the activities in the way they impact on someone else and if the activity is necessary Sleep is a human necessity, and in normal situations it doesn't affect other people - unless of course you have been deprived of it and others' safety requires you to be alert Partying is nice but it is not essential for survival or health therefore the necessity of sleep has priority, and ought to be done in a way to minimise negative impact on others needs

You can have a rave almost anyway, so why not have it out in the countryside where you can make as much noise as you want for as along as you like. People cannot suddenly decide to not sleep for entire night, especially if they have kids. I guess it's all about consideration, but equally you cannot demand people don't make any noise because you want to sleep because that's selfish too. If they'd kept me awake like that I'd have gone mental! There were probably far more people with disturbed sleep than those who wanted to party... And even if there weren't. We have rules (well researched by Eric) about causing a nuisance, nobodies desire to party outweighs other peoples need to sleep at night. ---------- Post added 26-08-2015 at 15:15 ---------- Well of course, but the big problem with being human is that we often have a conflict and it's how we resolve those that define us. You can if you want to sleep at night, in your house. Because noise that disturbs you then is defined as a nuisance and unreasonable. Even if it's just your neighbours playing a stereo loud. If it's a concert or event and it's disturbing multiple people then that's even worse and society in general can demand that it be stopped (which is why we have the police, to enforce that will). People cannot suddenly decide to not sleep for entire night, especially if they have kids. The reality is that the site never gets left in the condition it was found in though, especially when the turnout is high. I can safely say that from experience. When people are young they have this ideological delusion that raves in the countryside are a way of life and have no moral downside, I was once of that opinion myself. But the reality is very, very different. There are numerous very weird things that go on, that in the context of a normal social environment would be frowned upon for good reason. The ideology of freedom from the civilised state is a very enticing thing from a purists' perspective - but when implemented, the reality is very different. There is a reason humanity has developed into a civilised structure with the basic moral rules that we have. It's frustrating when we feel constrained by it, but it's important to protect everyone equally. Just to clairfy, my previous posts were sarcastic. But this one is not.
