Roger123W
Yes I went in there the other day with Spider Pete as it has re-opened and it is now even better than before !! What struck me was: - the vast range of real ales now and easy to read - the amazing new floor, sanded back and layers of varnish it looks just amazing now ! - the comfy soft seats , yes they were so comfy I almost fell asleep - We were told that they will now be running regular all day Northern SOul events , hence I suppose the fewer seats and the care and attention given to the new floor , I will look forward to attending one of these soon , I think there is one on Sat 5th December? DnAuK
Always liked Henry's as a bar. But the quality of the beer was a joke. I'm gonna give it another go soon to see what the refit is like, but not holding out much hope.
jemson
Yes I went in there the other day with Spider Pete as it has re-opened and it is now even better than before !! What struck me was: - the vast range of real ales now and easy to read ? They`ve always had 12 (ales / pumps). Conveniently they all tasted pretty much the same which made choosing easy..... RandumDave
strolled past henrys on Cambridge street yesterday and noticed that all the windows whited out and looking like it had closed. Has it actually closed down for good? surely it cant be a redecoration as it wasn't that long ago they did a refurb/paint job. Would be a shame if its gone as it was quite a nice place and I enjoyed the beers.
vincentb
Apparently it has closed for good. I'm surprised, as they did a big (and long-lasting) refurbishment job on it just a few months ago, and I don't think that block is supposed to be imminently affected by the new retail development. crookedspire
Might have closed due to the retail redevelopment the hotel across the road is coming down soon.
jemson
The leases there were all subject to the redevelopment, I believe. Same with Tap n Tankard. Does this mean Aardvark brewery`s test brews were all for nothing?! FWIW, I thought the place was very nice inside in that it could appeal to a lot of different folk but the beers, whilst vast in range, were almost always poor. Mischievous
Oh that's a shame. I have many happy memories of Henry's in the good old days!
RandumDave
Im quite surprised its gone if indeed it has gone. I reckon it will be awhile before that section of Cambridge street has anything done to it so henrys probably had another few years before it needed to close.
