Higher wages = higher prices

We would all suffer .

Not necessarily. People get the same money as now, only all of it comes in the form of wages rather than government top-up.

There won't be any more money in circulation than now and it would just flow differently, the current sums spent on work tax credits/benefits going through company books rather than through the tax system.

You can't be defending what Labour did with tax credits? Surely you can't?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is even if higher skilled workers are employed then the progression of the lower skilled then is virtually stopped too, why train somebody up who knows the company when one can just be imported, meaning the low skilled stay low skilled.

I even failed an interview a few weeks back "because I wanted to progress in my career" they actually wanted someone happy to stay on the bottom rung of the ladder for life.

I've seen precisely this happen at a very big company I worked for for a few years. At the start we were taking on dozens of graduates and modern apprentices every year. Then we started importing skilled workers from India and by the time I left we had taken on no modern apprentices and only about 5 graduates in the previous three years.

You're dead right to raise this issue. People don't realise it happens.

take the degrees away then whats the use of a "piece of paper" you know do some thing simple like train them to be a nurse :loopy:

The degree is part of the training. NHS Trusts don't have the capability to deliver that type of training.
