AmourDesign
Not sure that it would be a viable project for a developer. It will cost a substantial amount of money to renovate the building and i'd presume there would be alot of red tape with English Heritage. I think that is what happened with the current owners. geared
I thought it was just bought to land bank it by some consortium in London?? I don't know if they ever attempted any development, has there ever been planning permission sought??

AmourDesign
That whole area is undergoing a massive development. The old castle market and a huge area that starts behind Sheffield Crown Court all the way down to Riverside pub.

geared
What's the plan for the old market area? Currently the only plan is to smash it down.
fling
The post office was I believe purchased by Hallam University for the Arts faculty and is currently undergoing conversion. SHU will be the tenants of the Old Post Office. They did not buy it.
smiggs
What are the restrictions on the listed status of the building, is it just it's external appearance or does it cover alot of the internal stuff too?? If the original court-room and stuff need to stay in their original state then nothing is going to happen to the building. The fixtures are included. As I said in an earlier post residential usage seems to me pie in the sky: Pub, restaurant, exhibition space is more likely. The council, National Trust or English Heritage need to be involved if to be involved for any project to be sympathetic.
