chem1st
We can already see locations growing 'outwards' in sheffield, much like London....maybe we will expand into the peaks? what happens simply when space 'runs out'? Assuming growth remains constant, the clock strikes twelve on New Year's Eve, and the year is 8050AD, UK food production is at a record high due to advances in automated aeroponics. Buildings higher than 5 storeys have been banned for the past 5000 years and 50% of the UK remains green and pleasant land. Space won't run out. adrea
No, we'll all move to Uranus. Or Scotland, their population density is only 65, whilst England's is 419 making England the 28th most density population country.

adrea
If you ask sewage plants, we already have 80 million people living here. That might be my fault.

I wonder what our ranking would have been if scotland had chosen to leave the UK ?
Vague_Boy
Wiki says we are ranked about 50th out of 250 countries. I think you missed the bit that said "of the larger EU nations" (odd really, since you quoted it.) Berberis is correct: England is officially Europe's most densely packed major country

Vague_Boy
Space won't run out. Resources are more of a problem than space. Power, heating and water. Britain facing winter of blackouts as National Grid warns of tightest power supply in a decade (That's this winter BTW.) The water crisis in southern Britain Energy crisis looms for UK, France and Italy The higher the population, the greater the demand. It's that simple. Race isn't the issue. Nor religion. The numbers are the numbers, whether it's white British, Syrian refugees, Vulcans or Leprechauns.
