Europe strikes again - firms maybe in breach of work hours directives

There are all sort of complicated tax implications that I wont go into. Most people have a workplace and travel to and from is not counted as work. Those that don't have a set workplace sometimes end up being sent on jobs right left and centre across a city and end up miles away from home. In going home some can claim the time but not the travel costs, others claim the travel but not the time, some claim both, some neither.

Time it was standardised.

A lot depends on whether there is a designated workplace, or whether home is the designated place of work as well.

My paid day starts when I switch on the ignition and finishes when I pull the key out, regardless of distance.

and I think this ruling sets that in stone now, well done the eu for helping all workers with this ruling (waits for tims response to this):hihi:. now lets see all the dogooders sticking up for companies saying this will ruin the country :gag::hihi:

How does it help salaried employees?

The euchr would have to produce a law making overtime pay mandatory.

I don't know how it helps salaried employees but yes maybe their employers will now have to pay overtime . do you support this action in helping the working man/woman ?

What about a salaried employee who has a designated office but has to travel to other offices further away, sometimes during their own time (ie. Enforced longer commute), does this help them?

What about the increasing number of jobs advertised as location "flexible" and an expectation of travel and staying away from family for several nights a week? Does that count as working time?
