ricgem2002
I do hope youre wrong and the guy taking the report seemed genuine and concerned. He told me he would make sure its followed up and the driver is spoken to and also said that the police could deem his passengers actions as a danger and fine the driver. As we finished the call he was about to check the reg with the PNC and see if hes known. If had my issues with SYP over the years but i do feel this guy was genuine. so still no update

willman
As much as i understand the op's bewilderment at the passenger in the car - the police would have very little to actually "charge" the driver with. They did no wrong in actuality, they could be warned about allowing passengers to behave in the manner they did,but they likely couldn't do anything to him/her. I'm not denying what the person at the call centre said may happen, but most aren't aware of the legalities of anything as many are civilians. Any questioning would also fail under a stream of "no comments" which leaves the police having to prove everything which is why some of the cases mentioned aren't taken further. They might find other issues at the time of questioning which they might proceed with, but then again i have the same opinion if they stopped a car full of teenagers. Im pretty sure the driver has to ensure that the passengers dont cause a danger or at least thats what plod said when i spoke to them.

I think the driver is responsible for passengers under a certain age (I think its 14)anything above that and the driver is not responsible for the passengers actions. btw any update yet
