Jive Knight
Depends on the style you want to do. If you want to do re-enactment I recommend Knights In Battle Medieval Society. Re-enactment is the 'fun' side of swordplay (and axe-play, mace-play, pollaxe-play, etc.) - you get to go out onto the battlefield and free-fight with others plus cavalry, archers, cannon, etc. The fighting style is a 'safe' style that lets you fight as if you're trying to kill your opponents, but control the blows safely. We do battle re-enactments for the public, and our own tournament shows. Come along any Wednesday night and say hello and give us a try for a few weeks for free to see if you like it. Alternatively, HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) are represented by the Exiles: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1282141. HEMA is based on the original fighting manuals of the time and concentrates on the proper, lethal moves. Which means it is done under very controlled, supervised conditions - though it has its own tournaments and fight competitions where you can test your skill against others. Both are recommended, depending on your preference for how you see yourself fighting in the future.
