denlin
There are plenty of other ways to get to childrens hospital I'm sure. This race was to raise money for it for crying out loud. Some people just can't see the bigger picture, they think the world revolves round them. ---------- Post added 27-09-2015 at 15:27 ---------- Can any of you clappers answer: Why this has to be on the main-artery in the North of the city? Sure it is a lovely event, please explain that to the massive queue of cars on Middlewood Road? It isn't about me using the car, I normally am not caught out and have planned my weekend around it just as I do with the football, but I had no choice today. Just as thousands of parents moving their kids into halls of residence will be. If you don't know the city, you will be stuck, period. I don't think that is sensible when there are literally dozens of alternatives. Penistone road is not the only artery, there's allus Middlewood and Barnsley Road. We went down there about noon and everything seemed OK. Moving little darlings into halls of residence can be done in afternoon. Let's face it not many students get up in the morning at weekends anyway. How selfish some people are

foxydebs
We moved my partners daughter into student accommodation in Cumbria last weekend and had to be there for a set time, sheffield may be the same. If the race was to raise money for children's hospital why were there people running for cancer charities and alzheimers society.

'Operation Empty Nest' was last weekend in Sheffield as well - there would be very few leaving it this late. I can't really see a problem with people raising money for the Alzheimer's Society as well as the SCH...
Daven
People were running for the charity of their choice and some just because they wanted to. There have been signs up in Sheffield warning of road closures for weeks - do those caught out in the detours drive around with their eyes closed ? I was visiting a close relative very near to Penistone Road at the time of the run and had no trouble getting there - it just takes a little forethought and planning. It was all done and dusted by 12.30 ! Well done to all those who ran today - much money will have been raised for very many worthy causes:clap:
Litotes
Usual farce of organisation in Sheffield. Yes, close some roads, but please, please, please, arrange for traffic marshalls on the diversion routes. Change the lighting priorities, get police on the disrupted junctions... Oh, hold on - that might cost money to the greedy grabbing oragnisers who don't think about the disruption - they only trumpet "but it's for a good cause"... If any of the organisers can actually truthfully say they did not benefit from this event, then I will stop ranting about this being just yet another massive chugger event - because basically that is all it was!
