alchresearch
The same could be said about ALL of us. Why not provide a balanced diet for all of us? Good point: Obesity and chronic disease cost UK PLC £20bn a year Obesity and chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes cost Britain £20 billion a year in terms of lost productivity, analysis by the polling firm Gallup has found. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/8797091/Obesity-and-chronic-disease-cost-UK-PLC-20bn-a-year.html
RonJeremy
The same could be said about ALL of us. Why not provide a balanced diet for all of us? Exactly - come the (Corbyn) revolution, we should have a "National Food Service". The NFS will provide healthy food free at the point of use. If you wish to go private you can have a Mcdonalds. Timeh
The same could be said about ALL of us. Why not provide a balanced diet for all of us? Because as adults we are expected and able to contribute to the system for it to work, kids are kids and cant contribute yet. If they dont get proper meals and the basics they may never be able to contribute to this system. ---------- Post added 21-09-2015 at 10:13 ---------- The Conservatives look as though they should cut back on their own dinners before they start depriving children of theirs. Cyclone
The same could be said about ALL of us. Why not provide a balanced diet for all of us? Because we don't legally force all adults to go to an institution 5 days a week for the majority of the day, and as adults we have more freedom to arrange our own affairs. If we're going to have compulsory, free, education. Then include a decent meal at lunchtime so that the education is still beneficial in the afternoon. Otherwise it's wasted on some and the same 'some' disrupt it for others.

geared
It isn't the governments (read the wider society's) responsibility to feed your kids. School dinner can be the only good meal some kids get. This is heartbreaking! Sad but true, and there's little can be done against scumbag parents. Takes ages for social services to get involved and do something, even then it might not end well for the kid as being taken away from your family leaves deep emotional scars that last a lifetime. El Cid
It isn't the governments (read the wider society's) responsibility to feed your kids. It is the Government role to make sure that children get fed properly. What is the best way to do this? Give all parents ample benefits and stop them buying crisps and fat fried chips? Since they have/are cutting benefits massively, and if the parents have the money, the kids are not always well fed. Yes cut benefits, but give the kids free school meals.
