cassity
Coincendentally, Dennis Skinner, the far left Labour MP has been in charge there for the past 45 years. What a good job he has done. If you visited the The Lau Archipelago in Fiji it would get labelled the most miserable place on the planet.

tinfoilhat
It should be nicer than it is. Outside of bolsover itself its rolling fields and towards the edge of the district you're on the edge of Sherwood Forest. But the town its self is like the land that time forgot, as are many of the villages that surround it. But that's always been the case though hasn't it? Even when the place was full of well paid miners it was still a hole.
Blackbeard
Well as someone on here was labelled me 'The leftist person on SF' i should be putting my head in the oven right now. Damn it! Its electric!!! Looks like the hose pipe in the car exhaust for me If you want to commit suicide why not visit Bolsover and drink from the Doe Lea. "The River Doe Lea is a river which flows near Glapwell and Doe Lea in Derbyshire, England. The river eventually joins the River Rother near Renishaw. The river contained 1000 times the safe level of dioxins in 1991, according to a statement made by Dennis Skinner, (MP) in the House of Commons in 1992. The river flows through the former site of Coalite Chemicals near Bolsover, where coke, tar and industrial chemicals were manufactured until the plant closed in 2004." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Doe_Lea

Stoatwobbler
no wonder the kippers only won a single seat with that attitude Strangely enough, personally I find Clacton to be a fairly depressing place! Although I'm not churlish enough to blame Douglas Carswell for that. Edited September 30, 2015 by Stoatwobbler .

taxman
The residents of Bolsover obviously prefer to vote for a party that campaigned for, and implemented the National Minimum Wage, rather than the party that campaigns against restrictions to bankers bonuses. Maybe if Bolsover was home to lots of bankers they'd elect a Tory, or if perhaps the Tory government did one single thing to help the quality of life of Bolsover residents they then might stand a chance of having an MP. As it is the Tories couldn't give a flying about the residents of Bolsover and it is only through the hard work of their elected representative that their situation isn't worse than it already is.
