Hillsborough Hotel Closed?

I heard on the grapevine that it's been bought by Butlers Balti, so could become a new curry house.

Seems slight strange, it's not a great location for a restaurant (and Butlers should know about poor locations after their move down Broad Lane).

With the curry house in Hillsborough changing hands, and the one at Hillsborough Park dead, you'd imagine Butlers could have taken one on in the centre of Hillsborough which would be a success.

Also, how horrible is the paint colour of the curry house next to the Rawson? That grey against the sandstone is awful.

I'm told that there was a notice on the window the other day saying it was closing due to unforeseen circumstances. Anyone know anything?

The following announcement has been supplied to go in the next issue of Beer Matters magazine:

We're Back!

Ten years ago Tom Delaney managed the Hillsborough Hotel for Andrew & Helen Walker and Brigitte Colwell (now Mrs Delaney) was a member of the team at the time.

Brigitte and Tom have now taken over as licensees of the Hillsborough Hotel and long with the new team would like to welcome customers old and new to the Hillsborough.

There will be a new look menu with freshly cooked meals using local suppliers such as John Crawshaw's Butchers and Sheffield Brownie Company - the emphasis will be very much on using our excellent local suppliers.

Unfortunately the brewery has been dismantled but Brigitte and Tom will be looking to reinstate the brewery in the near future, looking to brew some new and exciting beers. In the meantime we will be sourcing our beers from local breweries, again with an emphasis on providing you with excellent high quality beers!

We will also be introducing tasting nights, sampling gin, rum, whisky, port and sherry along with live music and of course Big Jim's quiz. We have other plans in the pipeline for events over the coming months so come on down and say hello!
