funkymiss Posted April 20, 2006 Share Posted April 20, 2006 maybe it's just a sheffield thing. it's almost impossible to hire any bar staff that can bother to deliver good service. i guess it's endemic in a culture which promotes £5/hr and where low quality of service in the hospitality trade is to be expected. I used to love my bar job but had to quit due to an hourly rate of not much more than £4 an hour (!!), combined with having to walk home at 1am because the bar didn't provide a taxi home for employees. Still though, I think I was pretty good at it! I don't expect low quality of service in bars/restaurants... It's a shame you can't find good staff - I think it has a lot to do with it being badly paid and a bit risky getting home from at times. Still, if you're gonna do a job you should do it properly!
