GLASGOWOODS
Where is your evidence that most of the money sent abroad rarely reaches those it is intended for ? Following your logic, then perhaps we should stop paying all domestic welfare benefits because obviously some people are claiming benefits they are not entitled to . Given Britain's status in the World , It would be obscene if we never sent money abroad via overseas aid and charities. Government can't keep tabs on what our hard earned cash is getting wasted on in the UK, (Kids Company charity) never mind abroad.

That's a fair point , far too much domestic spending is wasted . However , regarding Kids Company it seems those at the top in the Government ignored the warnings from others within the Government . It's very worrying the current British Prime Minister was so easily hoodwinked by the Iranian born con woman .
999tigger
While there are appeals for money to provide help for people in need in this country it is obscene that we send money abroad via overseas aid and charities. Most of the money supposedly sent overseas After Admin costs rarely reaches those that it is intended for, so the following year they're out with the begging bowls again, the rulers of these countries already having a shopping list and a Swiss Bank paying in book ready. Provide some decent evidence for the rest of us. ---------- Post added 31-10-2015 at 13:55 ---------- Government can't keep tabs on what our hard earned cash is getting wasted on in the UK, (Kids Company charity) never mind abroad. Government wastes its own money on other things, its not a reason for not doing things, just a reason to have better control over waste. Until the inquiry has taken place then you dont know where the £46m went and how much of it was wasted and how much was put to good use.
James Stone
Overseas aid is political favouring, very little money is given with no strings attached. And you believe that, when hardly anything goes to the needy whilst much goes into Swiss Bank accounts. ---------- Post added 02-11-2015 at 02:02 ---------- Provide some decent evidence for the rest of us. The evidence is that for all the money given they're back again the following year with the begging bowls. ---------- Post added 02-11-2015 at 02:03 ---------- Until the inquiry has taken place then you dont know where the £46m went and how much of it was wasted and how much was put to good use. When questioned she babbled on without giving a straight answer. ---------- Post added 02-11-2015 at 02:05 ---------- Where is your evidence that most of the money sent abroad rarely reaches those it is intended for Because by the following year nothing has improved despite the aid given. ---------- Post added 02-11-2015 at 02:08 ---------- How come in all the begging adverts they never name the country, the little girl going for the water hasn't aged a day for years, she must be a grandmother by now. Gamston
At the end of the day it's the individuals choice whether to donate to a charity doing overseas work which includes Children In Need . Individuals have no choice how the Government spends it's budget where foreign aid equates to only about 1% compared to about 20% spent on public pensions . harvey19
Public pensions should be increased as most people have paid into them. I have heard that in Southern Ireland all pensioners are entitled to free fishing permits.

At least we contributed, I started paying into the system in 1958 (57 years ago) I get taxed £80 per month on my pension even just one penny going in overseas aid pees me off. Make overseas aid voluntary then see how much they get or don't get.

So what you're saying is that, due to the fact that the UK hasn't managed to solved world hunger, the money must be going to waste?
