mickey finn
It's not an easy mistake, it's driving off the road. Mist is no excuse, if the driver is driving too fast to see the sides of the road in the mist, then there is an offence which covers that. Have you informed the police. muckymurphy
No surprises here. where train/tram tracks and roads converge/diverge this will be a regular occurrence. it can be hard work for drivers having to watch the road, the pavement, read the road signs/adverts, the dashboard indicators and keep on eye on passengers all at the same time. tram gates are just as poorly signed up and segregated as bus gates. trams should never run on public roads and bus gates should only be at bus stations. I'm sorry but this is a poor excuse imo. Also, what adverts does a driver need to read ?

Has the roads round here changed then? As if you are right and its likely to be a regular occurrence I am surprised in the years the tram has been running this hasn't happened before. If she is new then why don't First train them properly?
Cyclone
trams should never run on public roads Wouldn't that be a light rail service then? The very definition of tram is that it runs on public roads.
the_bloke
Seems a lot of you don't even know that bit of road. You've got to be incredibly poor with your road observation to keep driving in a straight line; tram only signs, bollards, chevrons and considering it's an uphill stretch, even in low visibility you can see the road veers to the right and there is no road directly in front, only rails and sleepers. https://goo.gl/maps/EQCFTKkwwBS2
alexander874
Good job it wasn't a double decker as the tram wires are much lower when they are off road , if the wires had touched the bus roof and the chassis was touching the rails I will let you all imagine the consequences . Nothing will happen to the passengers inside - it would be a perfect Faraday cage.
Penistone999
Maybe the driver had been reading about the new Tram/ trains sheffield are getting and thought buses did the same thing. :hihi:
