Is it safe to holiday in Muslim countries now?

I'd think twice about Turkey more because of terrorism than the coup. Ditto Egypt. They had a coup there in 2013 but if you'd been in Sharm El Sheikh and not watching tv and not had concerned relatives who may have thought you were in the thick of it having watched it on their tv's, trying to get in touch with you, you'd have had no idea that anything was going on at all. Coups only affect the capital and large cities and most visitors to at least Turkey just go to a coastal resort. They are not usually to be found in Istanbul and especially Ankara.

Thailand had two coups in 8 years and is under a military dictatorship now. In 2005, before the first coup, they got 11 million tourists. Today, two coups later, and with a military dictatorship, they get 30 million. Potential tourists understand that coups and military dictatorships are nothing to do with them. Not like when some Islamist nut shoots up a beach full of tourists like in Tunisia. If somebody had done something like that on some Thai beach resort, DELIBERATELY targeting foreign tourists, then tourist numbers there would have fallen off a cliff too.

International womens travel centre says that Turkey is the sixth most dangerous destination on the Planet .

No one is India, two Mexico, three Brazil, four Egypt, five Saudi Arabia. six TURKEY.

What does 'most dangerous destination' mean? I can believe India and Turkey are high up the list just because of their appalling driving standards and the danger of dying on the roads.

I haven't been to the other countries, but Egypt has a reputation as a country you would never want to drive in.

I'm not sure it takes a genius to work out why India would be considered an unsafe country for women to visit, especially if they were lone travellers.
