woodmally
What sort of behaviour? I think the poster is referring to the antisocial behavior of some youths. I think if I read about it accurately on here they congregate around the Rude Shipyard. http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=629683
Anna B
How can 80,000 people have voted against having a Sheffield Mayor when most people are saying to have a Mayor or not has yet to be determined ? And what is so bad about having a city Mayor that will enable the city to determine its own priorities & future ? As I understand it, the new type of Mayor is going to have a lot of power, therefore the quality of the chosen candidate is going to be paramount. He/she has to be exceptional and up to the job for it to work. Now I don't know how the short list is going to be drawn up, or who will be on it but if it's anything like the fiasco over the elected police chief thingy of last year, it doesn't fill me with hope. Personally I'd really like to see an inspirational, entrepreneurial, business type from outside politics, who can bring fresh ideas and vigour to help make Sheffield the city it could be. But what's the betting we get a jumped up, self-important, useless Sheffield Councillor....
*_ash_*
A new renamed ward, yes. I don't believe The Green Party are doing all they can to save the trees. I know of one former councillor who did not stand last time as a result of their lack of interest in the matter. Apparently, ironically, they did not want to be seen as a "tree hugging" party. If nothing else, this made me laugh

The Sheffield City Region encompasses all of South Yorks, along with Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire councils. The mayor could come from any part of the region. Let's hope there are some decent candidates along with some clear information about the role.

Plus they need a new name instead of the (illiterate and incorrect) 'City Mayor'. Why not 'Reeve'- a good old English word- or even 'Regional Reeve'? Penistone999
I am interested Calvin to know why you are standing as an independant regarding the tree issue. I thought the Green Party were very much campaigning on this issue and weren't you a Green Candidate at one point? Whats changed should we no longer trust the Green Party? You mean some people actually did ?

smithy266
I thought the OP might have joined in the discussion in the last couple of weeks, sadly not. C'mon fella, if you are looking for support!
woodmally
You mean some people actually did ? The OP apparently, he was a fully paid up member of the green party before he defected and stood as an independent. I was just curious why he felt the Greens were not to be trusted on trees when they were obsessed by them. ---------- Post added 18-11-2015 at 09:10 ---------- I thought the OP might have joined in the discussion in the last couple of weeks, sadly not. C'mon fella, if you are looking for support! Nah he wasnt like the greats such as the late Red Robbo who enjoyed debating with people and campaigning. He just came on here to post his one post and we wont see him for dust now.
max
The OP apparently, he was a fully paid up member of the green party before he defected and stood as an independent. Not forgetting that he was a fully paid up member of The Socialist Party when he stood for them in 2007.
