This month’s Oblongular treat is replete with daftness and anarchic hilarity. We welcome back our headline act, after having last experienced his mesmeric mayhem at the Red Deer over three years ago, our middle section is oozing with sketch and we’re exceedingly pleased for the combined return of our openers who have previously performed solo. All in all it promises to be utterly smashing and probably bewildering.

Wes Zaharuk

Zaharuk credits his comic roots to his parents. They made ‘not listening’ an Olympic event. As a child, his parents dressed him in wool pants that were incredibly itchy. Complain as he would, his words fell on deaf ears. When he developed a skin condition that left him looking like a large, fully dressed pizza, he was tested for allergies. It was found that he was allergic to wool. Thusly he developed his desire to be heard — if only to reduce rash. Early in his career Zaharuk’s electric wit and tornado take on comedy caught on quickly. He soon became one of the most requested comedians at clubs and colleges across North America. He has since appeared on Canadian television, earned 5 star reviews at the Ediburgh fringe and performed in Germany, Israel and Australia to name a few. Master of prop-enhanced mayhem, Zaharuk provides a frenzied odyssey of anarchic physicality and audience interaction, easily making him one of the most exciting acts on the comedy circuit.
