Ousetunes
A good friend of mine, well into his seventies, says that the Henderson's building was a pub originally which he used to frequent. Perhaps the licence was never invoked?

mogwai84
It'd be a shame to lose the Uni Arms beer garden but swapping the Uni Arms for a "Hendos pub" makes sense if it continues to allow the uni to achieve their proposed developments. kaytie
I think it would be a good city attraction. If you look at Nottingham there are some fascinating city centre pubs there - from Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem in the Castle Rock to the gothic horror themed Pit and the Pendulum. Sheffield has nothing of similar novelty and a Henderson themed pub would help fill this void. (Only downside would be the proximity of that abomination the Blot - sorry Diamond - I can never forgive Sheffield university for that monstrosity!) Nagel
And here's the proposal for the new building. http://www.sheffieldcamra.org.uk/2016/05/old-hendersons-relish-factory/ Why do they bother? Just demolish it and build something new, it's pretend heritage to preserve a building in this way and the original building is of little architectural merit. The building is worth preserving because of its history, not because of its architecture. The heritage is far from pretend. You're not from round here are you?
