sgtkate
Nowt wrong with that . got his head screwed on has that lad. If schemes are there to avoid paying the old taxman , you should take advantage of them. Why would anyone pay tax they dont have to ? Perhaps so we can have schools, policemen and hospitals? You really are a broken record aren't you?
Eric Arthur
Governments deliberately encourage this sort of giving through the tax breaks written into the system. Otherwise people just keep their money and the government just gets a bit of it to waste distribute according to political policies. Zuckerberg is just cutting out the middle man and spending his own money how he likes.
Penistone999
Perhaps so we can have schools, policemen and hospitals? You really are a broken record aren't you? Blame Governments for leaving loopholes so big any half decent accountant could drive a bus through them. Done blame people for taking advantage of such loopholes. Done blame people for taking advantage of such loopholes. And yet when the unemployed etc take advantage of "such loopholes" you are outraged. WageSlave
Interesting that this "charity" is been set up as a L.L.C and not the more traditional route of a foundation. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/03/technology/zuckerbergs-philanthropy-uses-llc-for-more-control.html?_r=
scania
I have an issue with this. If he is setting up a charity that will benefit someone, where is the problem? Yes, I'm sure he has a team advising him on tax issues, but good on him. Like was said before, he could have bought a yacht, and said sod the lot of you, I'm loaded. I really truly believe that this is a great thing to happen.
Hesther
So, Eric, it's not just Guardian readers that are viewing this kindness with a little suspicion.

Berberis
I use a legal tax reduction system as well,if its there people are going to use it.Nobody likes paying tax. At least you're honest and I have no problem in someone using the system as it is set out. My only issue is how this story has been wrapped up as a benevolent act. This is dishonest and what some don't see to understand is, Zuckerberg has a huge PR machine at his disposal that will be handling how and what information makes its way into the media. Some seem to have swallowed this news, hook, line, weight, rod and deckchair.
