perplexed
Our Governement has active Christians within all the main parties , there is also a group of these in parliament who meet daily to pray for this country. You cannot have a truly secular government as Christians come from all walks of life . I dislike the use of state religion, faith is faith , you cannot change that faith which people have . God is for us so we should allow him to have his hand upon the nation , just as out for fathers have prayed , who have gone before us . Only fools would leave God out of Government . That will show in how the country we live in becomes weaker without God. I'd rather we reasoned our way out of any problems than falling to our knees and wailing to a super being. By the way, which imaginary super being should we wail to, seeing as they all seem to disagree with each other on disparate topics? What happens when it's not your super being whose 'in charge'? You'll be changing your tune... I'm probably just a fool though... Edited January 26, 2016 by perplexed

perplexed
I personally prefer to speak to God about the choices I can make , I believe he can guide me into the right choices . You may wish to believe this, but this process needs to stay well clear of government. Faith has no place in rational decision making.

RootsBooster
Didn't Bush & Blair pray about whether to invade Iraq or not? I don't know about praying but Bush claims his God personally told him to invade Afghanistan and Iraq.

Kensmith
Does he talk to you? Yes God speaks to us in many ways, is that a problem to you ? You have asked this several times to different posters on this thread . Do you have a problem that God chooses to speak to those who have faith in him . He can speak to us through his word , or whispers in our ears . ---------- Post added 26-01-2016 at 14:55 ---------- ...then what's the point of free will? Free will is a personal choice to do right and bring God into every situation . ---------- Post added 26-01-2016 at 14:56 ---------- You must use reason and evidence for the important choices, surely? Faith doesn't need evidence because faith is so simple .
unbeliever
Faith doesn't need evidence because faith is so simple . That's the most preposterous thing I've ever heard. And I've read the Green party manifesto. Do you apply that logic to anything else?
