PeterR
not the one he controlled. that was XM655 Thanks andyrad, Must have had a slight lapse of concentration during the programme. Unbelieveable you may say, but I often nod off now during the best of programmes Peter.
Voldy
Thanks Andy for posting the video clip. It brings back a lot of memories. The Lightning had to be one of the best RAF planes ever produced. I was in the Air Training Corps 370 Squadron Firth Park. I flew in a Wellington bomber used for navigational training and also a Lincoln bomber based in Leconfield. As an adult I was with 1st Bn Parachute Regt and we flew back from Cyprus in 1956 in Shackletons. Hi Arthur, sorry it has taken me a while to find and upload some of the slides taken at Northern Airshows in the early 60's though the following gallery may recall more memories. They are (1&2) Vulcans at different shows,(3) A Mk3 Shackleton, (4&5)Lightning and Victor,(6,7&8)Valiants at different locations,(9) Victor,(10)Lightnings (11) Canberras and (12)What you can expect future defence budgets to be able to afford!
