Alan Else
Jesus woman will you calm down. The fella fell over and will no doubt fall over again. Incorrect people might think terrorist scum fall over a bit more than the next fella. But he didn't fall over just like that, he fell after attacking prison officers. ---------- Post added 13-12-2015 at 19:52 ---------- Well said, i also feel the same as you. It seems prison is more of a holiday than any punishment these days. Well said to you as well, prison should be hard labour.
JFKvsNixon
That raises a very inyeresting point. Can a prison or police officer take legal action against a criminal for attacking them? If not then why can a criminal if the roles are claimed to be reversed? You see people prosecuted for crimes committed in prison, also is misbehaviour in prison counted against remand and can it even lead to time being added to the prison sentence? Anyone can be prosecuted for a crime committed anywhere (including police and prison officers) but it seems only the criminal can sue for compensation. A change in the law to make it a level playing field seems worth looking at to me.

redfox
Of course police officers and prison officers can take legal action - but the real question is who do they take action against ? If the issue is compensating them for injury then you wouldn't take action against someone who cannot pay the damages -

Also the prison officer would be an employee, so sometimes if the systems have broke down the employee can sue the their employer, which complicate matters. I'm just thinking outloud amd possibly not very clearly. The murderer in this case can sue the taxpayer but who would the prison officers he attacked sue other than the murderer? Maybe some kind of sequestation of assets for convicts untill release would give prison officers assaulted an easier target to get compensation when assaulted by them. Sort of a good behaviour bond that is shared out if they attack officers.
