little malc
It's interesting but the writing is on the wall for all internal combustion engines ultimately. Anything that relies on fossil fuel is going out of fashion double quick, the way battery tech is coming along cars will be all electric within the next decade. Janus
Is that why the oil price is in free fall? They must be nice guys, these OPEC illuminati. Oil production has been increased in response to Fracking. There is now a surplus which has driven the oil price down (intentionally) making fracking not such an attractive alternative. Keep in mind the giants BP / Shell etc produce gas.
Justin Smith
yes and? puzzled as to why you decry others then on other driving threads:huh: Not sure what you mean ? I decry driving which is more dangerous than it should be, because I (and more importantly my family) are put at increased risk by it. The only thing I don`t understand is why more people, in fact all road users, don`t take the same view. When I say all road users I`m obviously not counting boy racer types who want to drive faster for a selfish thrill, it`s pointless trying to persuade them, there really are non so blind as those who will not see. If you`re implying I`m a hypocrite because, almost be definition, anyone with a car like I had would drive it (too) fast, you might be correct. I`d only make three observations : 1 I`ve grown up now and seen the error of my ways. I was young and immature, at least I had that excuse. But anyway, what do they say about heaven rejoicing at a repentant sinner ? 2 One thing you can say about driving a Westfield is that if you had an accident driving it you would come off worst. The complete opposite of, say, someone driving a Range Rover. 3 In a Westfield type car you can get a thrill driving relatively slowly, you are, literally a few inches of the ground and can easily touch it if you put your hand out of the (non existent) door. From memory I could put my hand flat on the ground, though I`m not sure, it was a long time ago. These days I`d probably still regard even Westfield speeds as being too fast but at least it wouldn`t be as fast as someone trying to get a thrill in a boring tintop. ---------- Post added 21-12-2015 at 13:48 ---------- Very interesting. btw what car do you drive? After I sold my Westfield I had a Ford Escort, and other Ford Escort, then a Ford Focus. I`ve always had Fords because traditionally they were easier and cheaper to repair. These days I`m not so sure if that`s still the case, which is a bit irrelevant actually because I no longer do much work on my car, or the wife`s come to that. I don`t have the time or the inclination. So the pit in my garage (and my huge collection of tools) is just sitting there collecting spiders, what a waste. Still, it`d be a good place it shelter if there was ever another Blitz ! Edited December 21, 2015 by Justin Smith
