carboy42
I don't often use cheques so unsure on this one We received a cheque today that's to Mr & Mrs Thomas (Me and the missis) However we don't have a joint account so it's either pay into Mr Thomas or Mrs Thomas's account Is that an issue or would we have to be there together or sign a letter to say it's ok in either one of our accounts? Or worse get a new cheque issued? Thanks in advance to anyone that knows
999tigger
There doesnt seem to be a hard and fast rule and it appears to vary from bank to bank. Ring them up and check what their policy is. Your wife can countersign and date it, maybe eben write a letter identifying the cheque and who she is along with proof of id might help? If you have contacted them beforehand you will know what you need. If you have the same bank it might help, if you have dofferent baks then find the policy for both as that gives you two chances. It seems to be a common issue for newlyweds. Edited December 19, 2015 by 999tigger
Nagel
Don't ask us, ask at your bank.
smithy266
Just pay it in to either account.

mikeG
At a guess, go into your bank with your wife. Both of you sign on the back of the cheque with proof of your wife's signature handy an old, cleared cheque drawn by her). Bingo.
