El Cid
I know a UKIP poster on here has mentioned doing a degree in politics, the lady MP that unseated Ed Balls has completed a politics degree. Does it help our members of Parliament to know about politics? Should they be like teachers, and take training days, to further their education? I know Nicky Morgan is Secretary of State for Education and has been Minister for Women and Equalities, and as Economic Secretary to the Treasury, and as Financial Secretary to the Treasury. She has no experience of education, other than her private education, she qualified as a solicitor and worked as a corporate lawyer at Travers Smith specialising in mergers and acquisitions before taking on an in-house counsel role advising on corporate law. I believe the previous Education Minister, Michael Gove, had no experience of education. They pay millions to advisors, perhaps they are the brains behind our MPs? What are the qualities of a good MP?
Gamston
We need more MP's who have had successful careers in fields outside of politics in the real World . Didn't the lady who wore a nice dress and unseated Ed Balls do a bit of opera singing ?
Berberis
It was always dependant on your political persuasion. Labour MP's came from the Unions while Lib Dem and Tory's where almost always ex Solicitors. I suspect both professions are good at arguing their point and persuading people to side with them, so the jump to MP isn't that much of a change. Didn't the lady who wore a nice dress and unseated Ed Balls do a bit of opera singing ? She was a beauty queen too, I guess that helped her to get elected. She has been in the news today. http://www.beverleyguardian.co.uk/news/tory-mp-andrea-jenkyns-in-relationship-with-married-colleague-jack-lopresti-1-7635625
