poppet2
Midnight mass appears very popular, but what's the point of going once a year to deprive all the regulars of their seats?
runningman1
No it is not hypocritical unless one spent the year claiming that they didn't believe and that church was for idiots.

RootsBooster
Midnight mass appears very popular, but what's the point of going once a year to deprive all the regulars of their seats? It would depend on your reasons for going (or not going). There are many reasons to go to Church, you don't even have to be a believer. ---------- Post added 22-12-2015 at 23:53 ---------- Even then, why not go, just to be sure. To be sure of what? Solomon1
Midnight mass appears very popular, but what's the point of going once a year to deprive all the regulars of their seats? Personally? MLAR
To be sure of what? That you are right and that it is a big pile of stinking horse business. (I think that you could have worked that out yourself from the context of my post)
Nagel
Midnight mass appears very popular, but what's the point of going once a year to deprive all the regulars of their seats? This must be one of the least problematic problems ever mentioned on SF. How many people does it affect? How much distress does it cause?

Guns don't kill people, slightly more full than usual pews around Christmas do.
tinfoilhat
Midnight mass appears very popular, but what's the point of going once a year to deprive all the regulars of their seats? Do you have to deprive a regular of their seat? Can't you stand?
Dr Afzal
Maybe the OP means if the once per year visitors get there before the regulars. Regarding the original question though, I think it is fine to go once a year, every week or once every 10 years if that is what a person wants to do,it`s their choice. The only potential problem with midnight mass is that sometimes drunks come in and can spoil it for other people.
