Squiggs
Did shops exist before Henry Ford introduced the motor car production line?
Penistone999
If you look on SCC site, parking is free on Monday 28th which is classed as a Bank Holiday. This always happens when Christmas day or Boxinng Day falls over a weekend. The Bank Holiday is designated by the Goverment not by the council. SCC decide the parking charges , not the government. They could quite easily offer free parking today if they wanted, and couldnt have trotted out their usual excuse of all the free parking been taking up by office workers. the bank holiday excuse dosnt wash. Narden Dee
So on the day when tens of thousands of people head to the sales , SCC cant even offer free parking to attract people to spend their money in the city centre . Pathetic. No wonder the city centre is dying on its feet. Still, their loss of income is Meadowhalls gain. Are John Lewis offering free car parking today? Is the Q car park offering free car parking today? Are the various NCP car parks offering free car parking today ?

The council could lead the way to attract more people into the city centre to spend their money instead of going to Meadowhall, but as usual the shortsightedness of the council is there to see. Strange that Leeds and Manchester councils only give free parking on Bank Holidays exactly the same as Sheffield. So you should be able to do your shopping and park for free on Monday in any of the 3 cities above. Or even visit your local town, Barnsley for free parking on Monday but not today! denlin
I war being sarky. The council treat it as a normal day but the buses don't. What about all those who are working?

Yeah but come on, heading to the sales in town? What are they going to buy? Something for 99p instead of the usual pound? A big issue at half price? AmourDesign
One of the busiest shopping days of the year! Surely the council should cash in. You'll find that the people who complain about parking charges are the same people who complain about council budget cuts.
