El Cid
Small is often poor quality, radios, 12v vacuum cleaners; but these new cleaners are marketed as great, certainly not cheap. I am thinking about a small one myself, handy for pets, any good?
sedith
I have a hand held Dyson running on a 6 cell rechargeable battery. With about 12 minutes usage time, this has to be the most expensive, inefficient vacuum cleaner I have ever bought. I personally wouldn't bother with them, Just use the hand held tool on your ordinary domestic vacuum cleaner
perplexed
Nope. They're pretty much universally rubbish.
medusa
My parents have both of the Gtech ones (the floor sweeper and the hand held one for other surfaces) and have pretty much stopped using their bigger vacuum cleaner, so I assume that my mum thinks that they clean as well as their bigger Sebo. I've got a long haired GSD and 4 cats though, and Molly's hair kills big grown up vacuum cleaners so I wouldn't hold out much hope that a hand held one would do the job any better. ez8004
I have a cordless dyson and think it is great. We have a cat and it never ceases to amaze me at how much it picks up. The motorised head is very good for hard floors and carpets.

My girlfriend bought a Gtech one and it's brilliant!
martin6
They are definitely better than ones from say around 10 years ago. The Dyson hand helds are fantastic but have limited runtimes. I've purchased a Bosch athlet upright recently its actually quite impressive with up to 60 minutes runtime.
sedith
These days Dyson is overated, there are plenty of equivalent products which do the job just as well. I was put off the upright Dyson as a few years ago I had one catch fire. I have heard of other people this has happened to. The Gtech machines look good? MLAR
I wouldn't be without my Dyson. Actually, I am now. Mostly because all the cleaning is done in record time and I have time for a nice glass of red
Quik
Tactical tip for cleaning up after the xmas tree, use the vacuum shredder. Took me ten minutes today vs 2 hours of hoovering last year.
