No such thing as a safe level of drinking

Recommended Posts

Good sensible advice, ignore it at your peril.

All the guidelines are for your best interests.

A 1% risk of getting cancer if I drink more than 14 units a week is not worth worrying about.

Now for another glass of Blueberry wine.. Yachi da!

Just more interfering from the nanny state .

Dont drink

Dont smoke

Dont eat fatty foods

Dont drink fizzy drinks

The list goes on and on.

Just live your life , eat and drink what you want ,have a smoke and to hell with the meddling nanny state .

How is sharing the latest knowledge evidence of the nanny state?

I really don't see what the beef is, the idea is to give people the latest information and then allow them to make an informed decision on how they live their life.

its another example of us being told what we should or shouldn't do? most that drink to excess will ignore any warnings anyway?

why has it taken 20 years to change the guidelines anyway if its so important??

No it isn't you being told what to do. It's you being given the up to date information to help you make whatever decisions that you want to.

So in your world after 20 years of research we should not be made aware of

the latest findings. Giving us the chance read the full findings, and make our own decision whether to carry on as we have been doing, or decide to alter our way of life. As far as i am aware there is no compulsion to change our habits

No, the nanny state should not be educating it's citizens to help them live longer.

Dame Davies came over as a bit arrogant when questioned on the Today programme and the interviewer didn't go along with her argument.

In fact she almost lost her temper.

Any way these "scientists" and "statisticians" will all have changed their views in a few years.

Everything in moderation is the key.

No. Its you being given knowledge as to what the levels are for a recommended level of alcohol consumption are before you put yourself at increased risk. If you arent interested in being more kbnowledgeable or doint give a monkeys about how it affects your health, then yahoo you.

The guidelines are updated every so often if they feel a change should be made based on new data. There has been recent research , which indicates the levels should be lower than previously set as well as the cancer and other health risks associated with excessive drinking.

You seem to have a great resistance to knowledge and being informed about your own health.

Go for it.
