foxy lady
Hope you're wrong dude Corbyn rocks my socks! It seems he doesn't rock the socks of the unions. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2016/01/11/jeremy-corbyn-facing-defe_n_8957346.html Jeremy Corbyn’s hopes of changing Labour policy to dump Trident look set to be defeated by trade unions whose members rely on the defence industry. The Labour leader has been warned by one of Britain’s biggest trade unions that he “has another shock coming” if he thinks nuclear policy won’t be changed without a fight over the party’s rules. GMB boss Paul Kenny hit out as Labour MPs athe Parliamentary Labour Party meeting also backed policy chief Angela Eagle and party general secretary Iain McNicol over the current policy-making process. But HuffPost UK also understands that Unite – the UK’s biggest union – is expected this July to reconfirm its own policy of backing Trident ‘to support our members and their employment’. Although Corbyn allies have not given up trying to influence its biennial policy conference this July, many Labour MPs will be relieved that Unite will continue to act as a safeguard against change – and against any change to party conference rules. Nearly half of the Shadow cabinet are ready to quit if the party dumps Trident renewal before the next election.
Eric Arthur
There's no way that Unite's Labour MP's will vote against Trident, and from memory, that's over half of Labour's MP's. Unite used to publish a list of the MP's and MEP's they had in their pocket on the Unite website but it seems to have disappeared. ---------- Post added 13-01-2016 at 11:18 ---------- Here's the numbers to confirm that retaining nuclear weapons will continue to be the Labour policy. Corbyn will lose this nuclear defence argument unless he manages some kind of mass replacement of standing MP's for his own people, which would be the ultra leftist way of course. The problem then is that he'd have to get them elected by voters who quite like the nuclear deterrent. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2015/politics-blog/11612195/How-many-Labour-MPs-have-ties-with-Unite.html out of Labour's 232 MPs, 147 of them have ties to Unite, while 226 are linked to trade unions. Eric Arthur
This would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. Even the Greek's sacked him for being rubbish. Yanis Varoufakis is advising the Labour party, Jeremy Corbyn reveals
L00b
Some people here seem to think he is not, some do. So who thinks Corbyn can be legitimately described as a far left politician based on his political career, words and deeds and who disagrees with that view?I just go by his appointments (soz Eric, didn't see your post before I posted this)
