El Cid
I got a letter telling me where my taxes were going. £82 on welfare, and loads of other stuff. I wonder what the purpose is in telling me this, is it even true?
Mister M
I got a letter telling me where my taxes were going. £82 on welfare, and loads of other stuff. I wonder what the purpose is in telling me this, is it even true? I got one of these letters and I wondered when Social Security had changes its name to Welfare
Hippogriff
HMRC is now starting to communicate to their 'customers' via email. You have to sign up for it. I did. It will become the norm over time. These scams are pretty easy to spot.

Gleadly
Got a call recently from someone purported to be the Inland Revenue, in Chester. They stated that I was due for a tax rebate, although that did not make sense as IR usually pay direct to one's bank account or send a cheque. As I have a hearing problem, I could not clearly hear what she had to say, so I told her to either email me or send a cheque. Needless to say, I did not give her any personal information as she should have it on file already. Still not clear of the purpose of the call. milquetoast1
Still not clear of the purpose of the call. To con you into disclosing bank/security details. They promise to make a payment, but instead they make a large withdrawal.
MEC176
Inland Revenue never send e.mails all correspondence by post and it should have your national insurance number on it if not --- it's a scam.
