What do companies do with profits?

Recommended Posts

It's a straight forward enough question. What do you think companies do with profits?

They do lots of things with the surplus money they have, some of which reduce their profits, some of which enhance them

Any other vague questions you need any help with?

Speaking for my own Ltd. company I save most of it, as for the rest:

Paying my salary

Paying my taxes

Occasional capital investment (new PC, new monitor)

The rest I burn in front of homeless orphans while laughing and smoking a big, expensive cigar.

That is the answer you were looking for isn't it?

Yesterday I got a £16 dividend from my £760 royal mail shares.

The current dividend yield is 4.9% which is better than any savings account currently available, but at least with a savings account your original capital is safe.

Because filtering money to the few

At the top of a loaded pyramid

Whilst the rest of us suffer in poverty

Is unnecessary and obscene :gag:

Do you work for a company that gives all it's profits to those at the top of the tree, and leaves you suffering in poverty?

If not, who is this 'we' you are speaking on behalf of?

Ever thought about working for a different company? Getting more skills? You know, doing things that might make a difference so you don't work for a rubbish company on rubbish wages? You never know, it might improve your outlook on life..

Set up your own business. It's dead easy, just round up some poor people and thrash them twice weekly. The rest of the time you can spend on your yacht thinking of ways to avoid paying taxes.

I sometimes get off my yacht and kick a poor person in the groin - but that's optional.

Not it's not.

A bad employer will treat you as poorly as they can get away with.

If you learn valuable skills, you become hard to replace. Then not only do you get better pay, you also get better treatment because you're valuable to them and you both know it.

I've always been an employee and I've always been improving my skills. It works.
