Baz1
Is it culture, religion, race or something else that gets everyone so upset? I don't know why everyone gets upset obsessed with Islam, why it takes up a great deal of thread space on this forum- clearly it gets a lot of advertising and seems to be on the mind of a few people 24/7 me thinks. SnailyBoy
Excellent post!.........still few people realize that Jesus Christ represented the better side of religion, before he was condemned by the top dog religious leaders of the day and thus ended his short life in agony for speaking the truth against corrupted minds!......the struggle goes on. Summed up as "my imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend".
Hogg
Of course it is not racist to criticize Islam. Just as it is not racist to criticize Christianity. It is the interpretations of these religions that draw criticism. Those of us who are old enough to remember 'the troubles' in Northern Ireland will probably have found much to criticize. The Anglican Church's mean attitude to women priests (only one female Bishop) and to gay people leaves me very angry indeed. While the Catholic Church (whilst rejoicing in a lovely Pope) has done nothing to improve its innate misogyny. There are aspects of Islam that are also misogynistic - the inheritance laws favour men, whilst in court the word of a woman is valued as only half that of a man. Women are suffering under the misogyny of both religions. There are fundamentalist interpretations of both Islam and Christianity that I find alarming - people looking forward to the End of Days creep me out. And those aspects of Islam that are against music, dancing, art etc. I find downright depressing.

Women not being able to become Bishops is not really comparable to the treatment of women in many Islamic countries. If you attend a service at an Anglican church you will find men and women are equal and both take part in the services as much as one another. Where are the women Imams? Where are the women leaders in the Islamic world?
RootsBooster
Even if you count Jewry as a race (and Judaism as the religion), it is not racism if you're criticising the religion itself (ie, speaking against male infant genital mutilation traditions), rather than the (Jewish) people. Penistone999
Maybe you should stop throwing the "do-gooder" card around:) I have no time for leftie do gooders .
Mister M
I have no time for leftie do gooders . Except when they want to rent one of your properties: then you'd have plenty of time in order for you to take their money Do gooders, whether lefty or not, have for centuries campaigned for social and economic reforms for the betterment of their fellow man and society. If it was left to the boorish oiks, people like your good self would still be scratting around rubbish tips, and hanging round bins. This is true of the past but the "do-gooders" of today are forced to scrape the barrel and hand-ring about mostly whimsical nonsense that gets on the silent majority's tits! little malc
Oh the temptation to say stuff the lot and yes, let's have a nice bit of racism.
RonJeremy
A black person can't change being black - criticising him for it is racism A Jew - ditto An Arab - ditto A Chinaman - ditto A moslem has a choice - criticise that belief as much as you like. A Christian - ditto A Pastafarian - ditto A Tory - ditto A Socialist - ditto (but you'd be borderline cruel, cause they're bound to have some sort of learning difficulty ) There is a massive difference.
