Squiggs
It is worth reporting as they may develop a habit of this; someone else may have the same experience but manage to get a reg. If there are numerous incidents happen then police are more likely to take action

scargill
Have the details been passed to the police? And what's the ref number Why would you wan to know the reference number?
perplexed
It could have been the windscreen wash. I have known kids point the jet outwards and then spray them when passing pedestrians. With all due respect, what can the police do without a registration? The odds are this isn't or won't be a one off... There's a description to a point, a time and a place - others may have reported similar incidents but have more details, which help pinpoint a vehicle. Adds weight to any subsequent accusations. True, but would be extremely difficult to prove, especially if there was a car full. Could have been a water pistol, what they going to do ban water pistols and starting criminalising kids who point and fire them. No harm done, it's hardly the crime of the century. If they did I find them, a quiet word in the ear would probably do the trick.

Nobody except you is talking about banning water pistols. The topic is reporting of an incident. If the police have a number of complaints in an area and one complaint does have the registration, an order can be made against the VEHICLE used in an anti-social manner - regardless of who was spraying people. After which the vehicle can be seized from its owner on the strength of repeated complaints.

If you'd had that thrown over you from a car, would that be "no harm done"?
jane2008
Not just a pot of that, but something far worse like acid. It must have been very frightening at the time. Hope they are caught
