danot
If the government set a deadline allowing you to opt out from paying a new tax they were bringing in to support national charitable schemes whereby an additional 10 % would be automatically deducted from your monthly salary thereafter, forever, would you opt out of it? Halibut
Really? I'm surprised by that Halibut. If I'm giving charitably, I want to decide where my money goes.
danot
If I'm giving charitably, I want to decide where my money goes. Why, what's it matter to you, Is there certain charities you wouldn't want to help?
999tigger
What a ridiculous poll. Who on earth wants to give 10% of their salary? It's also not going to work on SF because it's: Anti organised charities Anti government telling you what to do. Anti tax So the poll is about a completely unrealistic proposition. Gamston
Why, what's it matter to you, Is there certain charities you wouldn't want to help? People might not want their money going to leisure charities or those which have high administration expenses . It's an individuals choice where they wish to donate for whatever reasons . Actually, it's none of those things you list since the deducted tax is optional. No one's being forced to commit to anything they don't agree with, no one's giving money begrudgingly. It's entirely optional. If you'd prefer to opt out, then opt out, squander the money some other way, it's entirely down to personal choice. No one's being pressured into helping anyone, but if you chose to help, the cash would be deducted automatically from your wage.
