Why is there a rainbow on a clear, sunny day?

Recommended Posts

Seriously guys it just doesn't add up! I think physics is broken.

You get a rainbow when you have the sun behind you and you're looking into rain. It doesn't need to be raining on you, just over where the rainbow appears to be.

It's actually helpful if it's not raining on you because if the sun is obscured by cloud it doesn't work.
