geared
Hmmm...I'm rapidly coming to that conclusion...I certainly don't want to make it any worse than it is now...If I can restore the mirror finish that would do fine. Here's a better picture of what they should look like: http://images.spares4appliances.co.uk/images/products/zoom/1387058082-75009400.jpg Have you looked at how much replacements are? Because if you can't get the mirror finish back without having it machined then replacements might be the best choice.

Correct term is Burner Body. http://www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=burner%20ring http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_sop=15&_nkw=gas+burner+ring&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc

Quite frankly, these burners are all replacements from when the landlady (who previously 'lived' in the house) melted all of them and had to replace all of them, I'm thinking it might be better to replace the whole hob. The replacement one's are 'generic' copies of the originals, and don't fit all that well. One doesn't work at all...That's the big burner in the middle (for a wok or something)...Apparently for the 'proper' replacement, they wanted £100+..Just for that single burner alone!
