swede1973
Its a 1999 1.1 petrol. Failed the MOT on the emissions so i had a new cat fitted along with a Lambda sensor and new air filter. Run Redex through it. Took it back and it failed on the Co reading only with a reading of about 0.600 should be about 0.200, the MOT bloke said. What else can i do can you buy additives other than Redex to get rid of the build up as the bloke says the engine might be coked up as it only does a couple of k in miles a year. carltoncdx
"Italian tune up" Basically take it up the parkway in 4th gear at about 60. You DON'T have to rev the nuts off it just needs higher than normal revs for a few minutes. do that a couple of times or go on the M1 for a junction or 2 in 4th gear. If that doen't cure it you may have a problem with you MAF meter. A good garage should be able to test it on a code reader that shows live datd. swede1973
Done that "Italian tune up", a few times in the last week. did 30 mile down M1 in 3rd gear at 70mph to get the cat nice and hot. The car keeps failing on the CO reading on the emissions. I havent checked the MAF sensor but i will do as the Wife is getting fed up with it and told me to scrap it for £30 after i spent a few hundred on it trying to get it throgh the MOT
